If like me you get Panettone because it is considered Christmasy but have no idea what to do with it then this is the recipe for you!!! Although maybe not if you are on the January health kick.

One of the easiest desserts I have ever made too and very rich and filling. Perfect for a post Christmas get together.

Ingredients

Serves 6 – 8

1 large Pannetone (around 1kg)
100 g Dark Chocolate
1 pack of Milk Chocolate Buttons
4 large Eggs
30 g Caster Sugar
800 ml Double Cream.
1 tsp vanilla Extract.

Slice the panettone into thick slices  and layer them overlapping slightly in a butter greased, shallow ovenproof dish, sprinkling the dark chocolate and chocolate buttons in between the layers.

Mix the eggs, cream, vanilla and sugar together and pour over the top of the slices. Leave for 30 minutes to soak in, then bake in a preheated oven 180°C/fan160°C/gas 4 for around 25 minutes making sure the top doesn’t get burnt. If it looks like the top is getting too dark just lightly place a piece of foil on top.

Rest and serve with more cream!

Easy peasy!
